Whistler Village to Brandywine Falls Provincial Park:
(approx 20 km / 12.5 miles)

  • From the golf course parking lot follow the Valley Trail south, down thrugh Alta Vista to Lakeside Park, then carry on past Wayside Park and Alpha Lake Park to the highway.
Whistler Valley Trail - Nita Lake

  • Cross Highway 99, enter the Bayshores neighbourhood and follow the Valley Trail up Cheakamus Way, over the crest, to Millars Pond Park.
  • From the south-east corner of Millars Pond Park take the Valley Trail south through the Spring Creek neighbourhood.
  • NOTE - the connecting Valley Trail between Spring Creek and Cheakamus Crossing  is scheduled for construction in 2010. For now, follow the highway to turn left on Cheakamus Lake Road (Function Junction).  Parking is available at the Cheakamus demonstration forest parking lot.
  • Follow the new Valley Trail over the Cheakamus River towards Cheakamus Crossing (the 2010 Athletes' Village).
  • Just before the entrance to the Athletes' Village bear right on the road to the basalt quary. Follow this gravel road south past the capped landfill site (to be back-of-house staging area during the Olympics - playing fields post-games).
  • On the south side of the capped landfill watch for the road on the right to "Jane Lakes".  Directly at this road is the trailhead to 5 kilometres of brilliant new trail to the Cal-Cheak Recreation Site. Enjoy! This section perfectly captures the spirit of the Sea to Sky Trail.
  • After a couple of kilometres you will go through a series of tight switchbacks then cross a creek to a forestry road. Turn right, down the hill, to a bridge over the Cheakamus River.
  • After the bridge, follow the trail until you can see the highway. Bear left here and follow the trail to the dirt road at the Cal-Cheak Recreation Site.
  • NOTE -   the Cal-Cheak Recreation Site is a great place for camping, parking, washrooms and water. Drivers should watch for signage from Highway 99, a few kilometres north of Brandywine Park.
  • The intended route is over the Cal-Cheak suspension bridge over Calaghan Creek and on to the Bungee Bridge but . . . NOT FOR NOW.
  • FOR NOW the route follows the dirt road, left down the hill and over the bailey bridge over the Cheakamus River.

  •  NOTE - the connecting trail from the Bungee Bridge to Brandywine Park is scheduled for completion by the end of 2009 using, in part, a very old service road from the first hydro transmission lines through the region, installed in the 1950's.
  • ANOTHER NOTE - for an alternate route back to Whistler Village take the trail north-west of the covered bridge in Brandywine Park north to the dirt road to McGuire. From here turn right (east), over the railway, then immediately left to the suspension bridge. From the Cal-Cheak Recreation Site watch for intersecting signage and/or use the Whistler Valley Recreation map to plan your route back.
